How is my art and process different than other artists? My goal is to be able to connect with every single person who owns my work. My coastal inspired paintings are meant to resonate with people and evoke an emotion within them. Sometimes, it’s inexplicable, and people feel such a connection and attraction to a specific piece. It simply just speaks to them. It may be the content, the composition, or even the colors, but it makes it hard to pull away from the artwork. I aim for all of my clients to feel that way when they purchase one of my paintings. I want them to be able to have a relationship with the art and to harness a certain affection for my work. For me, it’s all about being able to have a relationship with these people, so they are able to walk away with a beautiful new painting to put in their homes.
This bond is especially powerful in commissioned works. Sitting with clients and collaborating on a vision for a painting that will most resonate with and captivate them, is so essential in my work. I look forward to this process and manner of creating something embedded with meaning. It grants me a sense of purpose as an artist, and knowing that my paintings are able to hold an individualized sentimental value allows me to continue creating.
